Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini participated in a commemorative event in Samrala, Punjab, marking the birth anniversary of Satguru Ram Singh Maharaj, a revered saint and social reformer. The Chief Minister praised Satguru Ram Singh’s teachings as a beacon for societal change and national rejuvenation, emphasizing their focus on humanity, ethics, and national welfare.
In response to a request from the organizers, the Chief Minister pledged to collaborate with the committee to establish a Chair in honor of Satguru Ram Singh Maharaj. He also paid respects to Namdhari Sikhs who sacrificed their lives during the Kuka Movement for India’s independence, highlighting Satguru Ram Singh’s visionary approach that intertwined spirituality with social progress and patriotism.
Reflecting on history, CM Saini lauded Satguru Ram Singh’s leadership during the Kuka Movement, a significant part of India’s struggle for freedom against British colonial rule. He underscored the movement’s emphasis on nonviolent resistance, self-reliance, and local governance, noting its lasting impact on India’s quest for independence.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the enduring legacy of the Namdhari Sikhs’ sacrifices, which contributed to India’s freedom. He emphasized the importance of preserving the hard-earned freedom, mentioning the commemorative postage stamp issued by the Government of India in memory of the Kuka Movement martyrs and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advocacy for self-reliance inspired by Satguru Ram Singh’s principles.
