Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, alongside Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil, highlighted common issues with neighboring states and water resource matters, particularly the Kishau Dam project. Saini stressed the importance of accelerating the dam project and urged neighboring states to promptly sign a memorandum of understanding.
In response, Minister Patil instructed his office to arrange a meeting involving officials from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan to discuss the dam. He emphasized the need for swift decisions on water sharing and electricity generation from the dam. A subsequent meeting of the Chief Ministers was proposed to finalize the memorandum of understanding formalities.
Saini emphasized the significance of the dam project for all states, highlighting its potential to provide a substantial amount of essential water. He expressed confidence that the project would be beneficial for all participating states. Minister Patil directed his department officials to prioritize actions in this regard.
During the meeting, Saini also addressed the transportation of water from the Upper Ganga Canal in Uttar Pradesh to Faridabad and Palwal districts, seeking Minister Patil’s support to expedite the scheme’s implementation. Discussions included a Rs 2,000 crore project for water supply from the Munak Canal to Gurugram and Nuh districts, with Minister Patil assuring full assistance.
The meeting also covered discussions on Rajasthan’s Regional Rapid Transit System project and addressed waterlogging issues in Najafgarh.
