Haryana Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh announced that Gurugram is likely to experience relief from waterlogging this monsoon due to corrective actions taken at 158 vulnerable locations identified last year. During the inauguration of development projects worth Rs 16 crore in Maidawas and Dhumaspur villages under the Gurugram Municipal Corporation, Singh emphasized the government’s dedication to expediting development initiatives. He assured that adequate funds are available for public-interest projects, urging citizens to submit proposals adhering to regulations for prompt resolution of issues and project execution.
Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the equitable distribution of development benefits to all strata of society, particularly focusing on Gurugram’s infrastructural enhancement as a rapidly growing city. Addressing the issue of waterlogging during monsoons, he highlighted the comprehensive efforts undertaken to fortify drainage systems, clean drains, and implement necessary measures at the identified locations. These initiatives are expected to significantly reduce waterlogging and enhance the city’s preparedness for the upcoming rainy season.
Emphasizing that development encompasses environmental conservation alongside infrastructure projects, Singh stressed the significance of increasing green cover. With the monsoon approaching, he urged citizens to actively participate in tree plantation drives, noting that around 14 trees are required daily to offset an individual’s carbon dioxide emissions. Singh encouraged people to pledge to plant and nurture trees at various locations, including homes, farms, and public spaces, to contribute to environmental sustainability.
