Haryana Thunders emerged as champions of the Pro Wrestling League 2026 by edging out Delhi Dangal Warriors 5–4 in a tense final. The head coach, Virender Dahiya, credited the team’s victory to a long-term vision and highlighted the league’s importance for budding wrestlers. He mentioned that the exposure to foreign players had been invaluable for the Indian wrestlers, boosting their confidence on the international stage.

Dahiya shared that the franchise had entrusted the coaching staff with full responsibility from the outset, focusing on nurturing both experienced players and new talents. By strategically selecting quality wrestlers, including young talents aged 18–19, the team achieved success through collective teamwork. The coach, with a significant background in Indian wrestling, also commended the progress of young female wrestlers in the country.

Noteworthy achievements by young female wrestlers, such as defeating Olympic medallists and world champions, were highlighted as a positive sign for Indian wrestling’s future. Dahiya emphasized the morale boost gained from competing alongside elite foreign wrestlers, noting the significant impact on the athletes’ aspirations and performance levels.

Furthermore, Dahiya praised the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) for revitalizing the league post the COVID-19 disruption, providing a stronger platform for male and female wrestlers. He expressed optimism about the league’s expansion plans, expecting an increase in the number of teams from six to twelve, with matches scheduled across various states, enhancing India’s Olympic preparations.

The victory of Haryana Thunders not only marked an exciting season conclusion but also showcased the increasing depth, confidence, and global exposure of Indian wrestling. This success bodes well for the country’s prospects in upcoming international competitions.
