Health authorities at Paota District Hospital in Jodhpur have halted the use of 25 medicines and injections, including IV drips given during Caesarean deliveries, following serious complications in eight women after childbirth. Samples of the products used have been sent for testing, and their usage is on hold until test results are obtained.
Initial investigations suggest that the affected women received Sodium Lactate IV injections from a newly arrived batch. As a precaution, the Medical Department has stopped the use of the entire batch pending further inquiry. An investigation led by a team from AIIMS is underway to determine the cause of the complications.
Eight women who underwent Caesarean deliveries on June 20 at the hospital developed severe complications post-surgery, leading to an emergency medical response. While six patients are stable and improving, two women, Lalita and Sonal, are facing kidney issues and have been referred to AIIMS for specialized treatment.
Family members of the affected women are calling for a thorough investigation into the incident, alleging severe post-delivery complications such as excessive bleeding and reduced urine output. Surgical procedures at the hospital remain suspended until further reports are received, with patients needing surgery being redirected to Mathuradas Mathur Hospital.
