Relentless overnight rainfall in Uttarakhand on Monday led to severe disruptions, including landslides and blocked key routes like the Badrinath National Highway, isolating rural areas. Schools in affected districts were closed due to the weather conditions. The Badrinath National Highway faced blockages at various points due to debris and continuous stonefall, with restoration work ongoing and vehicular movement suspended for safety.

In Rudraprayag, the Namami Ghat was submerged as the Alaknanda River’s water level rose sharply from heavy rainfall in the Garhwal region. The Alaknanda River’s water level reached 622.90 meters above mean sea level on Monday due to persistent rainfall in the upper Himalayan region. The rising water level of the Saryu River due to continuous rainfall has affected daily life in several areas, with temperatures ranging from 23 to 29 degrees Celsius.

An orange alert prompted the closure of schools in the district, and efforts are being made to clear roads and restore traffic movement swiftly. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and be cautious near rivers, streams, and landslide-prone areas. Due to adverse weather conditions, the Pithoragarh district administration suspended the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra, prioritizing pilgrims’ safety and halting Inner Line Permit issuance.
