Heavy rainfall has impacted various parts of Gujarat in the last 24 hours, with Rajula taluka in Amreli district receiving the highest rainfall of 10 inches. Authorities have evacuated 777 people from vulnerable areas and rescued 60 individuals trapped in floodwaters due to intense showers across Saurashtra and South Gujarat.
In Amreli, Dhari taluka received over 9 inches of rainfall, while Khambha and Savarkundla recorded more than 6 and 5 inches respectively. Additionally, Jafrabad, Bagsara, and Lilia talukas in the district each received over 4 inches of rain.
Amreli district saw an average rainfall of more than 4 inches, while Dang district also received an average of around 4 inches. Other areas like Vijaynagar taluka in Sabarkantha and Una taluka in Gir Somnath each recorded 4 inches of rainfall.
More than 2 inches of rainfall was recorded in various districts across Gujarat, with a total of 164 talukas experiencing rain in the past 24 hours.
As of 6 a.m. on Monday, Gujarat has received more than 6 inches of seasonal rainfall, with varying percentages across different regions. The Sardar Sarovar Dam’s storage has increased to 65% of its capacity due to inflow from upstream catchment areas.
