Himachal Pradesh BJP General Secretary Sanjeev Katwal criticized the state Congress government for its revised outsourcing policy, claiming it has reduced job opportunities for youth. The Finance Department’s recent instructions restrict new outsourced services without prior approval, causing uncertainty for many young people reliant on such jobs.
Under the BJP government led by Jai Ram Thakur (2017–2022), more than 30,000 government appointments were transparently made, prioritizing employment generation. In contrast, Katwal highlighted the Congress government’s failure to fill numerous vacant positions, leading to delays in recruitment and mounting frustration among unemployed youth. The closure and merger of over 1,800 government institutions have further limited job prospects.
Katwal emphasized the government’s unfulfilled promise of one lakh government jobs annually, criticizing the delay in recruitment notifications and appointments. He urged the Congress government to promptly conduct regular recruitment drives to restore confidence among the state’s unemployed youth. The BJP pledged to advocate for transparent recruitment processes and stable employment opportunities for the youth.
