Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu visited Bara Bhangal, a remote hamlet in Kangra district, to evaluate the impact of recent natural disasters. He assured villagers that his visit aimed to understand their challenges and not for political gain. Sukhu emphasized the government’s commitment to extending development to even the most isolated areas of the state.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of experiencing ground realities to address people’s needs effectively. He pledged to designate Bara Bhangal as a natural farming panchayat, pursue Scheduled Tribe status for the region, and enhance the foodgrain quota at the local ration depot. Sukhu also inspected flood-affected areas and oversaw relief operations.
During his visit, Sukhu emphasized the urgency of improving road connectivity to Bara Bhangal. He instructed officials to expedite the construction process by tendering each kilometer of the proposed road separately. Additionally, he allocated Rs 10 crore for the road construction and explored air transport options for construction machinery.
To ensure uninterrupted power supply, the Chief Minister discussed installing diesel generators and expanding electricity connections in the village. He promised temporary diesel generators for immediate power needs and explored renewable energy projects for long-term solutions. Sukhu also encouraged the branding of local produce like rajmah (kidney beans) and promoted natural farming practices among residents.
Sukhu addressed the need for mobile connectivity, promising to engage with telecom companies to introduce services in the area. He also focused on boosting tourism by identifying forest land for eco-tourism activities. The Chief Minister announced plans for a student incentive scheme, hostel construction, and quality education access for children in Bara Bhangal.
In efforts to enhance healthcare services, Sukhu proposed training locals to provide primary medical support and constructing protective walls against floods. He also announced financial aid for local women and youth groups, along with a monthly pension scheme for eligible women under the Indira Gandhi Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana.
