In a troubling trend of violence against minorities in Bangladesh, a Hindu man, 27-year-old auto-rickshaw driver Samir Das, was brutally killed in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni district. His body was found in a crop field in Jagatpur village. Samir had left home in his autorickshaw on Sunday evening, and when he did not return, his family began searching for him.
According to reports from family members and police, Samir’s frozen body with multiple stab wounds was discovered in Jagatpur village. Initial investigations suggest that he was taken to a secluded area and murdered in an attempt to steal his autorickshaw. The local police have recovered the body and are conducting further inquiries to apprehend the perpetrators and locate the missing autorickshaw.
Daganbhuiyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Faizul Azim Noman confirmed the incident, stating that the body has been sent for autopsy at Feni General Hospital. He mentioned that a special operation has been initiated to capture the culprits responsible for the murder and recover the stolen autorickshaw. This incident marks the ninth attack in 24 days, underscoring a worrying escalation of violence against Hindu communities in Bangladesh.
