A human rights organization in Balochistan has raised concerns about increasing abuses by Pakistani forces in the region. The Human Rights Council of Balochistan documented 87 extrajudicial killings and 234 cases of enforced disappearances in February. The report indicated that indiscriminate firing, targeted killings, and custodial killings were among the causes of these deaths.
The findings revealed that the Pakistan Frontier Corps (FC) was responsible for the majority of the killings, with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and state-backed death squads also implicated. The report highlighted that security forces and affiliated death squads were involved in staged fake encounters or killings of individuals in custody. Additionally, the report noted that a significant number of abductions occurred through house raids and detentions.
Balochistan continues to face severe human rights violations, with enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch civilians being reported at an alarming rate. The situation in the region remains a cause for concern, with many individuals still missing or subjected to violence.
