The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Agriculture Department of Seychelles inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in agricultural research and education. This agreement, signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Seychelles, aims to strengthen bilateral ties and facilitate technology transfer. The MoU outlines joint research programs, exchange of experts, and sharing of agricultural technologies to bolster productivity and address challenges like climate change.
The five-year Work Plan (2026–2031) accompanying the MoU focuses on areas such as climate-smart agriculture, horticulture, livestock development, and food security. It emphasizes capacity building, technology sharing, and sustainable agricultural practices. Through this partnership, both countries seek to enhance institutional connections, improve agricultural efficiency, and tackle issues like climate change and food security.
With over 100 MoUs signed globally, ICAR is expanding India’s agricultural partnerships. The collaboration with Seychelles underscores India’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and global food security through international cooperation. Recent agreements between India and Seychelles cover various sectors like trade, digital technology, and agriculture, reinforcing their bilateral relations and mutual cooperation for development.
