The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a shift in weather patterns in Rajasthan as a fresh Western Disturbance is set to become active from June 11. Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan recorded a scorching 45.6 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest city in both the state and the country on Monday. This upcoming system is expected to bring thunderstorms, gusty winds, and rainfall to various parts of the state, offering some respite from the prevailing heat.
Most areas of Rajasthan experienced intense heat and high humidity on Monday, with temperatures rising despite the pre-monsoon season. Another Western Disturbance is anticipated to become active from June 11, bringing more thunderstorms and rainfall to different parts of the state. Despite the ongoing pre-monsoon period, temperatures continued to climb across Rajasthan, with Sri Ganganagar hitting 45.6 degrees Celsius, the highest maximum temperature in the state and the country.
Sangaria in Hanumangarh district recorded the highest minimum temperature at 35.3 degrees Celsius, while Sirohi registered the lowest minimum temperature at 22.7 degrees Celsius. Cities like Sri Ganganagar, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner saw maximum temperatures ranging between 44 degrees Celsius and 46 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department reported clear skies over most parts of Rajasthan during the day, leading to a significant temperature increase.
The soaring temperatures, combined with high humidity levels, created uncomfortable weather conditions for residents. Light rainfall was recorded in isolated areas of eastern Rajasthan in the past 24 hours, while western Rajasthan remained predominantly dry. Heatwave conditions were reported in some locations in the western region, along with warm nights. Weather experts anticipate clear weather in most areas of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions for the next few days, with daytime temperatures expected to rise further by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, potentially leading to heatwave conditions in several places.
As Rajasthan faces a mixed weather scenario, some regions battle scorching heat while others await rain and thunderstorms as the state transitions towards the monsoon season.
