The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for isolated heavy rainfall in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Nainital, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand. Thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy to very heavy rain are also forecasted in other parts of the state. These weather conditions are expected to persist until July 25.

Persistent rainfall in Dehradun has caused a drop in temperatures, with the city recording a maximum of 30.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.1 degrees Celsius. Heavy rainfall on Tuesday led to waterlogging in various areas, affecting normal life in Raipur and Rajpur due to overflowing drains and inundated roads. Commuters faced difficulties as roads became impassable.

The heavy rain impacted Uttarakhand, resulting in the closure of 142 roads due to weather disruptions on Tuesday. However, authorities managed to reopen traffic on 54 roads by evening. Operations for the Char Dham Yatra resumed smoothly after temporary suspension, with continuous monitoring of pilgrimage routes to ensure devotees’ safety.

Authorities have reopened the Dehradun-Mussoorie road with one-way traffic regulation, causing long queues of vehicles. Heavy rainfall in the Kedar Valley affected the Kedarnath Yatra as boulders and debris blocked the pedestrian route near Chhaudi. Restoration work is underway, and pilgrims have been advised to follow safety guidelines before continuing their journey.
