Host nation India has successfully moved three teams into the semifinals of the 5th Asia Cup Bridge Championships held at the Taj Cidade de Goa Horizon. India A (Men), India A (Women), and India B (Seniors) have all secured spots in the knockout rounds following the round-robin stages. Notable bridge players like Hemant K. Jalan, Sukamal Das, Rajesh Dalal, Jitendra Solani, Anil Padhye, and Raju Tolani are part of the Indian contingent.

India B of the Seniors category, finishing first in the Swiss league standings, will compete against Japan in the semifinals on Table 31. On the other hand, in the Men’s Division, India A secured third place with 186.47 VPs, setting up a semifinal clash against Hong Kong-China A on Table 2. China leads the Men’s Division standings with 218.31 VPs.

In the Women’s Division, India A placed third with 105.39 VPs, with defending champions China finishing first. The semifinals in this division will see China against Japan and Indonesia against India A. Additionally, in the Mixed Division, China A and China B claimed the top two positions, with India B narrowly missing qualification despite a strong performance.

With India strongly represented in the Men’s, Women’s, and Seniors events, the country is well-positioned as the championship progresses to the knockout stage. Semifinal sessions across all divisions are scheduled for Friday, with the Grand Finals set for Saturday.
