India and Israel have completed the second round of talks for the proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in New Delhi. Both sides engaged in detailed discussions across various areas of the agreement, aiming for a balanced and mutually beneficial FTA. Technical experts from both countries focused on topics like trade in goods, services, rules of origin, and intellectual property rights during this round.
The Terms of Reference (ToR) signed in November 2025 set the framework for negotiations to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two nations. With total merchandise trade at $3.93 billion in FY 2025-26, India and Israel see significant opportunities for enhancing trade, investment, and economic integration through the FTA.
India’s Chief Negotiator, Ajay Bhadoo, expressed commitment to a comprehensive agreement that would boost bilateral trade and economic relations. Israel’s Chief Negotiator, Yifat Alon Perel, acknowledged the progress made and stressed the importance of achieving a mutually beneficial outcome for both countries.
