The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi announced that India and Nepal have agreed to enhance their bilateral relationship. The discussions between Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, and India’s Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, focused on developing partnerships, improving connectivity, and collaborating on priority areas of mutual interest.
Both countries jointly announced the operationalization of P2P cross-border payment transactions under an MoU between NCHL and NPCI. Additionally, India handed over 72 health sector and 12 cultural sector post-earthquake reconstruction projects to Nepal, which were constructed with Indian development assistance. A Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged for co-creating the National Digital Infrastructure for a “Voice First” Language Translation Platform.
The Ministers engaged in comprehensive discussions covering various aspects of Nepal-India bilateral relations. The talks included trade and economic cooperation, cross-border connectivity, energy partnership, water resources management, and enhancing people-to-people ties, including sports. Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening the enduring partnership between the two neighboring nations.
Reviewing the progress of ongoing bilateral projects and cooperation initiatives, the Ministers explored ways to expedite their implementation. They also delved into regional and international issues of mutual interest, emphasizing cooperation within multilateral forums. Nepal’s FM Khanal also met with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to discuss further strengthening Nepal-India bilateral relations.
