Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Seychelles is expected to witness the signing of various agreements across different sectors.
Rathish emphasized the recent intensification and deepening of relations between India and Seychelles, attributing this progress to the guidance of Prime Minister Modi. The bilateral cooperation has seen significant growth, with a focus on enhancing political trust and strengthening ties in various fields. The upcoming visit aims to further solidify these relations and explore new avenues of collaboration, including in AI, cyberspace, and marine conservation.
During his State visit to Seychelles from June 27-29, PM Modi will engage in discussions with President Herminie to review and enhance bilateral cooperation. The visit will also include interactions with the Indian diaspora and an address to the National Assembly of Seychelles. Both countries share the Indian Ocean region and are committed to promoting trade, capacity building, and maritime security through Vision Mahasagar, advocating for collective stewardship of the region.
India and Seychelles have been working closely on defense and security matters, with a focus on tackling common threats such as drug trafficking and illegal fishing. The partnership includes the exchange of real-time information and training programs for Seychelles defense personnel in India. The collaboration extends to marine spatial planning, coastal management, and marine conservation efforts to safeguard the biodiversity of the Indian Ocean.
