India and Slovakia recently engaged in discussions regarding the progress of their Comprehensive Partnership and upcoming high-level visits in both countries. The meeting took place between Ministry of External Affairs Additional Secretary Pooja Kapur and Slovakia’s Ambassador to India Robert Maxian in New Delhi.
During the meeting, Ambassador Maxian expressed optimism about the strengthening of ties between the two nations. He highlighted the importance of continued progress in the India-Slovakia Comprehensive Partnership and the preparations for future high-level visits.
Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanar, had previously met with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New York on July 14. The discussions included Slovakia’s support for India’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Ambassador Maxian described the meeting between Minister Blanar and EAM Jaishankar as highly productive. They focused on various aspects such as preparations for Slovakia’s V4 Presidency, the V4+India format, UN Security Council reform, and collaboration on global security challenges.
The mutual support between India and Slovakia for each other’s candidature for the UN Security Council reflects a deep level of trust and a strong bilateral relationship. This endorsement underscores the comprehensive partnership and the high quality of relations between the two countries.
During a recent State Visit to Slovakia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with Slovakian leaders, including Prime Minister Robert Fico and President Peter Pellegrini. The visit further solidified the bond between the two nations, with Slovakia honoring PM Modi with its highest award, the Order of the White Double Cross (1st Class).
