India’s Minister of State of External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh led a ceremony marking the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, a significant action against terrorism originating from Pakistan. Singh emphasized India’s unwavering commitment to combatting terrorism during the event.
The commemoration honored India’s UN Mission and praised the bravery and professionalism of the armed forces involved in Operation Sindoor. This operation was launched in response to a terrorist attack by Pakistan-based militants that resulted in the deaths of 26 Indian tourists in Pahalgam.
Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, 2025, targeted terrorist groups like The Resistance Front and Jaish-e-Mohammed affiliated with Lashkar-e-Tayiba. The situation escalated into a conflict between India and Pakistan when the latter’s armed forces supported the terrorist organizations and engaged in hostilities against India.
Following India’s successful defense and significant destruction of Pakistani military assets, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations requested a ceasefire. The UN Security Council condemned the Pahalgam massacre and reiterated its stance against terrorism as a grave threat to global peace and security.
