India has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Mali that targeted various locations, expressing solidarity with the nation during this challenging period. The Ministry of External Affairs conveyed deep condolences to the victims’ families and mourned the loss of General Sadio Camara, Mali’s Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, in the attacks. India reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to fighting terrorism in all its forms and supporting peace and stability in the region.

The attacks, carried out by armed terrorist groups, struck multiple cities in Mali, including the residence of Minister Camara in Kati near the capital, Bamako, resulting in his and his wife’s tragic deaths. The government of Mali reported that the assaults also affected garrison towns like Kati, Sevare, Gao, and Kidal, as well as Bamako, causing injuries to civilians and military personnel, with limited material damage.

Responding to the attacks, the Malian army announced the elimination of over 100 terrorists in the Koulikoro region through aerial operations following the incidents. The military detected a group of terrorists moving towards a hideout, leading to airstrikes that successfully neutralized the threat and destroyed their logistics. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Mali has cautioned Indian residents to remain vigilant, exercise caution, stay indoors, and adhere to local authorities’ instructions due to the security situation.

The embassy is closely monitoring the developments in Mali and will provide updates as necessary to ensure the safety of Indian nationals in the country.
