Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla praised Team India for their impressive victory over Pakistan by 61 runs in the 27th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Ishan Kishan’s stellar performance with 77 runs off 40 balls, supported by Saim Ayub’s 3-25 spell, set the stage for India’s win as they bowled out Pakistan for 114 runs in 18 overs.
Shah commended Team India’s consistency against Pakistan, while Shukla lauded the team’s collective effort, highlighting Kishan’s batting and the bowling prowess of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Varun Chakravarthy. India’s strong start, led by Kishan and contributions from Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav, allowed them to set a target of 176 runs.
The Indian bowlers dominated the match, with Pandya and Bumrah taking crucial wickets early on. Pakistan’s Usman Khan fought valiantly with 44 runs, but the team’s middle order collapse led to a defeat. India’s strategic bowling, led by Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varma, dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup, securing a convincing victory.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal praised Team India’s performance, emphasizing their teamwork and strong finish. Pakistan’s batting struggles in high-pressure situations were evident as they posted their third-lowest T20 World Cup total. India’s comprehensive win was a result of Kishan’s explosive batting and the bowlers’ precise execution, setting a positive tone for the team in the tournament.
