Batting all-rounder Abhishek Sharma shone with three wickets for 17 runs as India secured a commanding 90-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second T20I, leading the series 2-0. India, defending a challenging total of 219/5, bowled out Zimbabwe for 129 in 17.5 overs, marking their first series win under captain Shreyas Iyer’s leadership. This win comes as a morale boost for India following recent batting struggles in matches against Ireland and England.

Despite losing pacer Prince Yadav to injury early on, India’s bowling attack, led by Abhishek Sharma and debutant Yash Thakur, maintained pressure on Zimbabwe’s batting lineup. The host side struggled to counter India’s disciplined bowling, setting the stage for a potential series sweep in the upcoming match.

In pursuit of 220 runs, Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett showed promise with six boundaries, including a standout scoop shot, before falling to a mistimed shot off Thakur. Zimbabwe’s batting woes continued as key wickets fell, with Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi making crucial breakthroughs. Skipper Sikandar Raza’s early dismissal further dented Zimbabwe’s hopes, as India’s bowlers dominated the proceedings.

India’s victory was sealed by Abhishek Sharma’s stellar performance, claiming key wickets to dismantle Zimbabwe’s lower order and secure a comfortable win. With this comprehensive performance, India showcased their dominance in the series, setting the stage for the final match.
