India emerged as the top performer at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship, New Delhi 2026, securing a total of 94 medals, including 51 gold, 23 silver, and 20 bronze. The championship concluded at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi with India’s commanding display.
On the final day of the championship, Indian shooters showcased their prowess by clinching multiple medals across various events. They swept the podium in the 25m Centre Fire Pistol and 25m Pistol Junior events, in addition to securing medals in the 50m Rifle Prone Women Senior and Junior events. The host country also excelled in team events, adding four gold medals to their tally.
Amanpreet Singh stood out in the 25m Centre Fire Pistol event, securing the gold medal with an impressive score of 589-24x. Gurpreet Singh and Ankur Goel added to India’s medal haul by winning silver and bronze, respectively. The trio also combined to secure the team gold in the event.
In the 25m Pistol Junior event, Suraj Sharma claimed the gold medal with a score of 585-25x, while Mukesh Nelavalli and Abhinav Deshwal added a silver and bronze, respectively, to India’s medal count. The trio also clinched the team gold in this category.
Olympian Sift Kaur Samra and Tejaswani Sawant shone in the 50m Rifle Prone event, winning silver and bronze medals, respectively. The Indian team, comprising Sift, Tejaswani, and Manini Kaushik, also secured the team gold in this event. In the junior category, Dhavalika Devi Nyamurus secured a bronze medal, with Kazak shooters Tomiris Amanova and Darya Ponomarenko clinching gold and silver. The Indian trio of Prachi Gaikwad, Anuskha Thokur, and Devi secured the team gold.
