India’s oil refineries have boosted liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production by around 10% following government directives to secure ample cooking gas for households. This action aims to alleviate concerns raised by certain groups regarding potential supply disruptions. Additionally, the government has extended the waiting period for new LPG cylinder bookings from 21 to 25 days to prevent malpractices and misuse of domestic LPG resources.
Government sources revealed that the Essential Commodities Act has been invoked to oversee the situation and guarantee the proper distribution of LPG, emphasizing that the Essential Services Maintenance Act has not been enforced. Officials highlighted that India currently maintains a favorable energy availability status compared to other nations and is actively coordinating with various countries to ensure uninterrupted energy supply.
Despite previous concerns, sources confirmed that the issues have been resolved, and supply chains are operating smoothly. All refineries nationwide are running at full capacity to sustain consistent production levels. The government remains vigilant in monitoring the situation and stands prepared to address any potential challenges that may arise, with a primary focus on meeting household energy needs.
Furthermore, authorities cautioned against believing unverified social media information regarding a purported LPG shortage and reassured the public of adequate energy resources. While acknowledging concerns raised by certain associations, the government promptly responded to the issues highlighted, underscoring its commitment to addressing them effectively. The government clarified that there is no existing crisis and affirmed the availability of ample energy sources.
