India officially became a part of Pax Silica, a US-led program focusing on semiconductor manufacturing and advanced technology supply chains, at the ‘AI Impact Summit 2026’ in New Delhi. US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, highlighted the significance of India’s involvement in Pax Silica, emphasizing the country’s strategic importance and talent pool. He also praised India’s advancements in critical minerals processing capabilities and the ongoing collaboration with the United States in this field.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed confidence in India’s growing global trust, attributing it to the country’s talent pool and foreign policy approaches. Vaishnaw underscored the importance of the Pax Silica agreement for India’s semiconductor industry, mentioning the establishment of semiconductor plants and the design of cutting-edge two-nanometer chips within the country. He emphasized the emerging semiconductor ecosystem in India and the potential benefits for the youth through Pax Silica participation.
India’s participation in Pax Silica is expected to enhance collaborations with advanced economies, attract investments, and strengthen supply-chain resilience, offering significant advantages to the electronics and semiconductor sectors in the country.
