India’s Vice-President, C.P. Radhakrishnan, emphasized the country’s capability, vision, and ethical values in embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) responsibly. Speaking at a national AI conclave in New Delhi, he stressed the importance of AI serving humanity and adhering to strong ethical standards. Radhakrishnan highlighted India’s significant progress in AI, positioning the nation among the global leaders in this technology.
Artificial Intelligence, once a futuristic concept, now plays a pivotal role in various sectors such as healthcare, climate studies, governance, education, finance, and national security, according to the Vice-President. He urged against unwarranted fears and negativity surrounding new technologies, drawing parallels with the initial skepticism towards computers that eventually revolutionized the world, presenting both opportunities and challenges. Radhakrishnan emphasized the necessity of utilizing technology positively and constructively.
Recognizing India’s advancements in AI, the Vice-President cautioned against complacency in the rapidly evolving technological landscape, urging the country to match the pace of developed nations in AI research, innovation, and implementation. He also welcomed the introduction of new AI curricula, advocating for AI integration into educational systems at all levels to equip students with critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and future-ready competencies essential in a technology-driven era.
