India excelled at the ISSF World Cup in Munich as Suruchi Inder Singh secured gold and Esha Singh claimed silver in the women’s 10m air pistol event. Suruchi defended her title with a score of 242.1, while Esha settled for silver with 241.2 points. The duo’s performance propelled India to the top of the medal tally.
With this victory, India now holds two gold and one silver medal at the ongoing ISSF World Cup. The competition includes two mixed events in rifle and pistol disciplines scheduled for Saturday. Earlier, both Suruchi and Esha barely made it to the final by clinching the last two qualification spots with a score of 578, narrowly edging out the reigning Olympic champion.
Suruchi initially lagged behind Esha in the competition but gradually found her form, challenging for the top position. As the final rounds progressed, Suruchi and Esha displayed exceptional accuracy, securing gold and silver positions respectively. Esha, despite a commendable performance, fell short of Suruchi’s lead in the final shots.
Esha’s success marked her second medal in the tournament, following her gold win in the women’s 25m pistol event earlier. However, in the men’s events, India faced setbacks, notably with Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar’s disqualification in the 50m rifle 3 positions due to weapon discrepancies. Anish, Udhayveer Sidhu, and Suraj Sharma also faced challenges in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event.
