India has been chosen to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, following the 2026 edition in Glasgow. The upcoming event is expected to feature a more extensive program compared to the previous edition, with traditional sports like shooting, wrestling, badminton, and archery likely to be included.
Renowned Indian archers Deepika Kumari and Tarundeep Rai are looking forward to the inclusion of archery in the Games. Reflecting on the 2010 Delhi Games, where India last hosted the event, Deepika highlighted the significant impact of winning a gold medal on her career and the sport’s popularity.
Deepika expressed confidence in the 2030 Games surpassing past standards and hoped for archery’s return to the multi-nation event. Tarundeep Rai, a bronze medalist at the 2010 Games, emphasized the positive effects of hosting major events on grassroots participation and infrastructure development in archery.
