India is set to host the 3rd BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Nagpur, Maharashtra on July 11 and July 12, 2026. The meeting will bring together ministers and senior officials from member countries to discuss sustainability in transport infrastructure and mobility. Under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026, the two-day meeting will focus on reviewing progress in transport cooperation and exchanging international best practices.

The member countries will deliberate on various areas of collaboration, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), urban mobility, multi-modal transport, resilient logistics’ supply chains, decarbonisation, and the adoption of AI-based technologies. This meeting in Nagpur aims to deepen transport cooperation among BRICS countries, building on the momentum from previous meetings hosted by Russia and Brazil. The collective commitment of innovation-driven growth within the bloc will be reinforced.

Enhanced transport cooperation among BRICS countries is expected to boost trade facilitation, improve regional and intercontinental connectivity, enhance logistics efficiency, and contribute to more resilient global supply chains. Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, will chair the meeting on July 11, 2026, under the theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability (BRICS).”

The theme of the meeting aligns closely with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, emphasizing a data-driven, climate-conscious, and disaster-resilient transport ecosystem. India aims to reduce logistics costs while establishing a sustainable, multimodal network that promotes green mobility. The Transport Working Group, the principal platform for policy dialogue and cooperation in the transport sector among BRICS member countries, has played a significant role in advancing resilient and efficient transport systems across member countries.

The expanded BRICS grouping, which includes Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates, represents nearly half of the world’s population and accounts for around 40% of global GDP.
