India is gearing up to host the first-ever World Yogasana Championship from June 4 to 8 at TransStadia in Ahmedabad. The event, organized by World Yogasana and hosted by Yogasana Bharat, will see participation from over 40 countries. Athletes competed in various categories like traditional, artistic, rhythmic, and athletic yogasana during the selection trials held at the Sports Authority of India Centre in Sonepat, Haryana.
Selected athletes will undergo training at the Naranpura Sports Complex in Ahmedabad from May 10 to June 2. President of Yogasana Bharat, Udit Sheth, expressed pride in hosting the championship, aiming to promote Yoga globally, especially among the youth. Secretary General of World Yogasana and Yogasana Bharat, Jaideep Arya, highlighted the growing popularity of Yogasana in India through the successful national trials.
The championship, recognized and governed by World Yogasana, combines yoga discipline with athletic competition, focusing on precision, balance, flexibility, and control. The event aims to showcase the sport’s global recognition and development, providing a platform for athletes worldwide. With participants from various countries converging in Ahmedabad, the championship is set to be a significant celebration of sporting excellence and India’s rich yogic heritage.
