India is set to host the International Artificial Intelligence Summit next week, where it ranks highest in the world for AI skills diffusion and hiring. According to the Global Vibrancy Index (GVI) by Stanford University, India stands second in economic competitiveness, just behind the US. Overall, India now trails only the US and China in the GVI rankings.
In specific talent categories within the GVI, India surpasses the US, particularly excelling in AI Skills Penetration and AI Hiring Ratio. Additionally, India secures the second position in subcategories like “AI-Related Social Media Conversations Net Sentiment,” “AI GitHub Projects,” and “AI GitHub Projects Stars.”
The rankings attributed to India by the Institute are a result of significant initiatives aimed at enhancing its global AI presence. The country’s focus on AI as a strategic national priority has propelled its advancements in the field. India’s progress in research and development has allowed it to overtake countries like Japan, Germany, Singapore, and Britain in the latest GVI rankings.
India will also host the India AI Impact Summit from February 16-20 in New Delhi, organized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under the IndiaAI Mission.
