Indian-American business leaders and policy voices have expressed satisfaction with the resolution of the case against the Adani Group in the US. They believe that the case, being beyond the jurisdiction of American law and lacking concrete evidence of wrongdoing, should not have been pursued against an Indian company. This development is seen as a positive step that will enhance India-US economic relations and instill confidence in Indian companies operating globally.
Dr. Mukesh Aghi, President and Chief Executive Officer of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, emphasized the strategic and economic significance of the India-US relationship. He stated that the closure of the case involving the Adani Group was essential to facilitate smoother access to international capital markets for Indian firms. Aghi highlighted that the case lacked evidence of bribery and was based on assumptions rather than concrete proof.
Ajay Jain Bhutoria, a Democrat with ties to former US President Joe Biden’s administration, noted that the prosecutors failed to substantiate their allegations in the case. He refrained from commenting on the potential political motivations behind the case but stressed the lack of sufficient evidence to sustain the accusations. Bhutoria also highlighted the positive impact of the Adani Group’s substantial investment in dispelling misconceptions about Indian businesses in the US.
