Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, has embarked on an official two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to enhance military and strategic cooperation between the two nations. This visit is a significant step in bolstering the defense collaboration under the broader India-UAE strategic partnership, which has seen increased engagement in security and defense sectors over the years.
During his visit, General Dwivedi will be welcomed with a Guard of Honour by the UAE Land Forces and will meet with senior leadership of the UAE Armed Forces. He will also receive briefings on the structure, roles, and capabilities of the UAE Army, further solidifying the defense partnership between India and the UAE.
The Indian Army chief’s visit underscores the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE, with a focus on defense cooperation alongside trade, energy, and cultural exchanges. This visit is expected to pave the way for discussions on defense innovation, joint exercises, and strategic dialogues between the two countries, aiming to strengthen their defense ties.
General Dwivedi’s visit to the UAE will be followed by a visit to Sri Lanka from January 7 to 8, where he will engage with senior military and civil leadership, including the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and the Deputy Minister of Defense. This visit reaffirms India’s commitment to enhancing defense cooperation and interoperability with friendly nations in the Indian Ocean Region and West Asia.
