The Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps and Gauhati University are working together to strengthen ties between the military and academia. Discussions aim to boost strategic awareness, develop leadership skills among youth, and enhance understanding of the Northeast’s socio-cultural landscape. The collaboration involves engaging students in diverse social and cultural dynamics while fostering strategic thinking and awareness of national security issues.
The General Officer Commanding of Gajraj Corps, along with senior officers, recently met with Gauhati University Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta and other faculty members. The meeting included prominent academicians like Prof. Akhil Ranjan Datta, Prof. Chandama Samah, Prof. Poully Vauquline, Dr. Vikash Tripathi, and Dr. Sameer Sarkar. Discussions explored ways to deepen the Army’s engagement with educational institutions to provide students with a comprehensive view of the region.
Efforts are underway to encourage young individuals, especially women, to explore career opportunities in the Armed Forces. Initiatives discussed aim to inspire students to contribute to nation-building through military service and public engagement. The collaboration also focuses on strengthening Army-Academia-Community partnerships through experiential learning programs, including visits to frontier areas and interactions with Army personnel in challenging environments.
The proposed initiatives seek to offer students firsthand exposure to national security issues, border management challenges, and the unique socio-cultural aspects of the Northeast. Emphasizing the importance of creating platforms for collaboration, both the Army and Gauhati University are committed to empowering youth with knowledge, leadership skills, and a broader national perspective. The joint vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 underscores the initiative’s goal of nurturing future leaders and promoting youth involvement in national development.
