On the seventh day of the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 in Mongolia, the Indian women’s boxing team continued their impressive run. Meenakshi and Jaismine secured unanimous victories in the morning session, guaranteeing medals for all Indian women boxers in the semifinals. In the women’s 48kg category, Meenakshi defeated Japan’s Yuka Sadamatsu with a strong 5-0 decision, while Jaismine triumphed over China’s Ziyi Chen in the 57kg division.
The Indian women boxers have been exceptional, with each securing a medal and showcasing the team’s prowess on the continental stage. In the men’s category, Lokesh, Akash, and Harsh Choudhary also advanced to the semifinals. Lokesh dominated Korea’s Gichae Kim with a 5-0 victory, Akash defeated Turkmenistan’s Yhlas Bagtyyarov, and Harsh Choudhary outperformed Kyrgyzstan’s Tynystan Alybaev.
India boasts six male boxers in the semifinals, displaying a strong performance across various weight classes. However, Ankush faced elimination after losing to Jordan’s Hussein Iashaish. The Indian contingent is gearing up for more exciting semifinal matchups at the Asian Championships.
Ankushita Boro continued India’s success by securing a 4-1 victory against Laura Yessenkeldi in the women’s 65kg category. She will now face Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen, a renowned boxer, in the upcoming semifinal match.
