Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan, engaged with UK Defence industry leaders to enhance collaboration in the defence sector. General Chauhan stressed the importance of economic integration for smoother cooperation in defence manufacturing, technology transfer, and supply chain resilience. He also emphasized that such collaboration would facilitate the co-design, co-development, and co-production of critical technologies.
During his visit, General Chauhan paid respects to fallen soldiers at the Memorial Gates in UK’s Constitution Hill, underscoring shared military traditions and values of remembrance and sacrifice between India and the UK. Additionally, he met with the UK’s Minister of State for Indo-Pacific, Seema Malhotra, and conducted a roundtable conference on “Indian military transformation-challenges and opportunity” with officials, think-tanks, and intellectuals.
General Chauhan’s visit included discussions with his UK counterpart, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knigton, focusing on expanding cooperation in cyber, intelligence, industrial collaboration, and joint exercises to bolster global security and stability. This visit, the first by an Indian CDS to the UK, signifies the fifth senior UK-India military engagement this year, following the UK Chief of the Air Staff’s visit to India in March.
