Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan met with UK’s Minister of State for Defence Readiness and Industry Luke Pollard to discuss evolving conflict dynamics and enhancing military cooperation. Additionally, General Chauhan engaged with UK’s Minister of State for Indo-Pacific Seema Malhotra to advance the India-UK Partnership, Defense Industrial Roadmap, and Tech and Security initiatives in countering challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. Both sides highlighted the importance of cooperation in Cyber, Intelligence, and Space domains to bolster information resilience and specialized exchanges, reaffirming their commitment to a strong India-UK strategic partnership.
General Chauhan led a roundtable conference in the UK on “Indian military transformation – challenges and opportunity,” involving officials, think tanks, and intellectuals. The discussions centered on advanced technologies in defense, operational capabilities enhancement, and closer synergy across industrial, intelligence, and cyber domains. Emphasis was placed on strategic communication and joint engagements to fortify a future-oriented India-UK Defense Partnership. During his visit, General Chauhan also received a Ceremonial Step Line and engaged in discussions with UK’s Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton on expanding cooperation in cyber, intelligence, industrial collaboration, and joint exercises to bolster global security and stability.
The visit aimed to deepen Defense Cooperation, advance defense industrial and intelligence collaboration, enhance cyber cooperation, strategic communication, and joint exercises, reinforcing a shared commitment to global security, stability, and resilience. General Chauhan’s visit marks the first official visit by an Indian Chief of Defence Staff to the UK this year and signifies the fifth senior UK-India military engagement, following UK Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Harv Smyth’s visit to India in March.
