Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan visited the UK and was welcomed by his UK counterpart Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton in London. This visit, the first by an Indian CDS to the UK, signifies the fifth senior UK–India military engagement this year, following a previous visit by UK Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Harv Smyth to India in March.
During their meeting, the two officials discussed enhancing cooperation in areas such as cyber, intelligence, industrial collaboration, and joint exercises to strengthen global security, stability, and resilience, as stated by the Indian High Commission in London. The visit aims to deepen defense cooperation, advance defense industrial and intelligence collaboration, cyber cooperation, strategic communication, and joint exercises, reinforcing a shared commitment to global security.
Senior UK civil and military leaders will engage with General Chauhan during his three-day visit, as per the UK defense ministry. Discussions will include progress in training exchanges, intelligence collaboration, and integrated military engagement between the two nations. Representatives of the British defense industry will also meet with General Chauhan to further discussions on greater defense co-production between India and the UK.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi recently met with UK’s Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sir Harvey Smyth in New Delhi, focusing on strengthening bilateral defense cooperation and exploring joint initiatives to enhance peace and security. General Chauhan expressed confidence in advancing a deeper, more integrated, and future-ready defense engagement between India and the UK during his meeting with Air Chief Marshal Smyth.
