The Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports honored the Indian contingent for their exceptional performance at the Bangkok 2026 World Archery Para Series. India secured the top spot on the medal table with an impressive total of 13 medals, including 7 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze, outperforming 21 countries and 113 athletes.
Comprising 39 members, the Indian contingent showcased dominance across various categories, supported by the ACTC through the ANSF Scheme. Notable highlights included Toman Kumar, Sheetal Devi, Payal Nag, Padma Shri Harvinder Singh, Shyam Sunder Swami, Bhawna, Swati Chaudhary, Rajshri Dhanraj Rathod, and Vijay Sundi’s medal-winning performances.
The felicitation ceremony, graced by senior officials from the Archery Association of India, witnessed athletes and coaches sharing their pride in representing India on the global stage. Athletes like Payal Nag and Sheetal Devi expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and the pride of seeing India atop the medal tally, emphasizing the emotional significance of the event.
Coach Abhilasha Chaudhary highlighted India’s emergence as a dominant force in global sports, attributing it not only to the medal count but also to the country’s strong presence across various spheres. Athlete Shyam Sunder Swami noted India’s reputation preceding its participation, with other nations closely monitoring Indian athletes’ performances.
In his congratulatory message, Dr. Mandaviya commended the contingent for their outstanding performance, urging them to continue excelling and setting high standards for the Asian Games. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting para-athletes through funding, training, and exposure, aiming to solidify India’s position as a global sporting powerhouse.
