Cricket South Africa (CSA) has revealed changes in the coaching staff for the Proteas women’s team ahead of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England. The departure of batting coach Baakier Abrahams, fielding coach Bongani Ndaba, and strength and conditioning coach Zane Webster has been confirmed. Their contracts will not be extended beyond the 2025/26 season as part of a planned transition within the national setup.
Head coach Mandla Mashimbyi expressed gratitude to the departing coaches for their contributions and emphasized the importance of bringing in new voices for fresh perspectives. The trio, who were part of the coaching staff during recent successes, will be temporarily replaced by Andrew Puttick, Mduduzi Mbhatha, and Tumi Masekela until permanent replacements are finalized by CSA.
Former Western Province batter Andrew Puttick will take over as the batting coach, ex-Northern Cape head coach Mduduzi Mbhatha as the fielding coach, and Tumi Masekela as the strength and conditioning coach on an interim basis. CSA Director of National Teams and High Performance, Enoch Nkwe, acknowledged the departing coaches’ contributions while welcoming the new additions to the coaching staff to enhance the team environment.
