Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the growing influence of Indian culture and festivals worldwide during the 130th episode of his monthly radio show, Mann Ki Baat. He praised the Indian diaspora for their significant role in preserving and promoting India’s cultural heritage, citing Malaysia as a prime example.
PM Modi commended the Indian community in Malaysia for their remarkable contributions, especially in maintaining Indian languages and traditions in the country. He highlighted the presence of over 500 Tamil schools in Malaysia, where subjects are taught in Tamil alongside a focus on other Indian languages like Telugu and Punjabi.
Additionally, the Prime Minister lauded the Malaysia-India Heritage Society for its efforts in strengthening historical and cultural ties between the two nations. He mentioned their initiatives, including heritage walks that showcase cultural sites connecting India and Malaysia.
PM Modi also mentioned a recent cultural event in Malaysia, the ‘Lal Paad Saree’ iconic walk, which celebrated Bengal’s cultural heritage. This event, which set a record in the Malaysian Book of Records for the largest number of people wearing the saree, featured captivating performances of Odissi dance and Baul music.
Expressing pride in the Indian diaspora’s role in bridging India and Malaysia, PM Modi conveyed his best wishes to the Indian community in Malaysia.
