The Indian Embassy in Iran has released an updated advisory for Indian citizens due to escalating instability and conflict in the region. The advisory urges Indian nationals to postpone any travel plans to Iran and advises those already in the country to consider temporary departure. It emphasizes the importance of exercising extreme caution for those opting to stay in Iran, advising them to stay informed about the situation and avoid areas with heightened military activities, especially along the southern coast.
The advisory also stresses the need for Indian nationals in Iran to register their details with the Embassy promptly if they haven’t done so already. Additionally, they are advised to regularly check the Embassy’s website and social media channels for the latest updates. The escalating tensions between Iran and the US have led to increased hostilities, with both sides engaging in retaliatory actions across the Middle East.
Amidst the rising tensions, Iran has announced the suspension of its commitments under a peace memorandum with the US, citing violations by Washington. In response, the US military has conducted multiple strikes against Iranian targets, maintaining a high state of readiness with over 50,000 troops in the Middle East. US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the recent strikes on Iranian military facilities, including coastal surveillance, air defense installations, and missile storage sites, as part of efforts to degrade Iranian military capabilities.
