Twenty Indian-flagged vessels with 540 Indian seafarers are under active monitoring in the western Persian Gulf region, as confirmed by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The government has implemented necessary measures to ensure the safety of Indian vessels and seafarers operating in the area.
The Directorate General of Shipping, in collaboration with ship owners, RPSL agencies, and Indian Missions, is actively overseeing the Indian seafarers in the region. The ministry stated that all Indian seafarers are secure, with no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels reported in the past 24 hours.
DG Shipping has successfully facilitated the safe repatriation of over 938 Indian seafarers to date, including 25 individuals in the last 24 hours. Port operations across India are functioning normally without any congestion, with State Maritime Boards confirming smooth operations in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways continues to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Missions, and maritime stakeholders to ensure the welfare of seafarers and uninterrupted operations. The safety, security, and well-being of the Indian community in the Gulf and West Asia remain the government’s top priority.
Since February 28, approximately 4,97,000 passengers have returned to India from the conflict-affected region. Indian Missions and Posts are actively engaging with the Indian community, providing assistance, issuing advisories, and ensuring their safety and well-being.
