Republic Day 2025: A Grand Celebration of Unity and Diversity


India celebrated its 76th Republic Day on January 26, 2025, with unmatched zeal and grandeur, marking 75 years since the Constitution came into effect. The main event took place at the iconic Kartavya Path in New Delhi, reflecting the country’s military prowess, cultural heritage, and progressive aspirations.

Celebrations in Delhi

The festivities began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute at the National War Memorial, followed by President Droupadi Murmu leading the nation’s celebrations. Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, reinforcing the strong ties between the two nations.

The parade, which is the highlight of Republic Day, showcased:

  • 300 cultural artists performing “Sare Jahan Se Achha” using regional instruments.
  • A march past by the Indonesian National Armed Forces and their Military Academy Band, marking a unique international collaboration.
  • 16 state tableaux and 10 ministry tableaux under the theme “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,” displaying India’s diversity and achievements.
  • A breathtaking fly-past by the Indian Air Force, featuring formations like Dhwaj, Ajay, Satluj, Rakshak, Netra, and Vajrang, with 40 aircraft/helicopters painting the sky with patriotic fervor.

The ceremony concluded with the national anthem and the release of tricolor balloons bearing the official logo commemorating 75 years of the Constitution.

The state tableaux were among the most awaited highlights of the parade. Here’s an overview of the top entries:

1. Chandigarh: A Harmonious Blend of Heritage, Innovation and Sustainability

2. Gujarat: Swarnim Bharat: Virasat Aur Vikas

3. Delhi: Quality Education

4. Punjab: “Celebrating Kisan – The Heart of India”

5. Uttar Pradesh: Mahakumbh 2025 – Swarnim Bharat Virasat aur Vikas

6. Tripura: Eternal Reverence: The worship of 14 Deities in Tripura – Kharchi Puja

7. Karnataka: “Hampi – The Glory of Vijayanagara”

8. Bihar: Swarnim Bharat: Virasat Aur Vikas (Nalanda Vishwavidyalya)

9. West Bengal: The ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ & ‘Lok Prasar Prakalpa’ – Empowering Lives and Fostering Self-Reliance in Bengal

10. Cultural Heritage of Goa

11. Uttarakhand: Cultural Heritage and Adventure Sports

12. Andhra Pradesh: Etikoppaka Bommalu- Eco-Friendly Wooden Toys

13. Madhya Pradesh: “Khajuraho – The Eternal Art of Love”

14. Haryana: Showcasing Bhagwad Gita

Cultural Performances

For the first time, bands from three government schools, including two all-girl teams, performed, leaving the audience enthralled. The cultural segment featured folk dances from various regions, including Bhangra, Bharatnatyam, and Lavani.

Highlights Beyond Delhi

  • Southern Flair at Rashtrapati Bhavan: President Murmu’s ‘At Home’ reception focused on South Indian cuisines, textiles, and art, offering a rich glimpse of the region’s diversity.
  • Kashmir’s Celebrations: Events across district headquarters, including a grand march-past at Bakshi Stadium, witnessed over 20,000 attendees.
  • Global Festivities: The Indian diaspora celebrated enthusiastically at embassies worldwide, with flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs.

Bike Stunts and Fly-Past

The daredevil stunts by military bikers were among the most thrilling parts of the parade, showcasing agility, coordination, and unmatched discipline. The event concluded with the Indian Air Force’s fly-past, where formations like Trishul and Vijay added grandeur to the celebrations.

Republic Day’s Significance

Republic Day is not just a day of parades and cultural programs but a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to democracy, unity, and inclusivity. The 76th Republic Day celebrated these values, paying homage to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and emphasizing the nation’s steady march toward development.
