The Indian Men’s Hockey Team showed strong defensive skills to defeat England 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out after a hard-fought 0-0 draw in the FIH Hockey Pro League match at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London. Abhishek, Shilanand Lakra, and Hardik Singh scored for India in the shoot-out, with defender Sanjay named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

England started well, earning an early penalty corner, but Indian goalkeeper Mohith Shashikumar made crucial saves to keep them at bay. Despite England’s pressure, India’s defense held firm, with the first quarter ending goalless.

In the second quarter, both teams had chances, but solid defending from India and good goalkeeping from England kept the score level at halftime. India came back stronger in the third quarter, creating opportunities but failing to convert, while a penalty stroke decision against India was overturned after a video referral.

The match remained tense in the final quarter, with both teams having chances to score. However, the game ended 0-0 in regulation time, leading to a penalty shoot-out where India emerged victorious. The win showcased India’s defensive strength, nerve under pressure, and ability to perform in crucial moments, providing a confidence boost ahead of the upcoming Hockey World Cup.
