The Indian men’s hockey team faced reigning world champions Germany in a tough battle during the FIH Pro League 2025-26 Rotterdam leg. Jugraj Singh scored in his 100th international appearance, but late goals from Justus Weigand and Jakob Brilla led to a 1-2 defeat for India.
India began the game strongly, controlling possession and applying pressure on Germany. They maintained a solid defensive setup, limiting the World Champions’ opportunities to score.
In the second quarter, India intensified their play with a high press, causing errors from the German side. Despite creating chances, including a promising opportunity by Abhishek, India couldn’t capitalize in the first half.
In a closely fought contest, India took the lead in the third quarter through Jugraj Singh’s penalty corner goal. Goalkeeper Mohith HS’s solid performance ensured India held onto their lead going into the final period.
Germany equalized in the 56th minute with a penalty corner converted by Justus Weigand. In the dying moments, Jakob Brilla scored the winning goal from another penalty corner, securing a 2-1 victory for Germany.
India will face the Netherlands in their upcoming match on Sunday.
