Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, met with Costa Rica’s Minister of Science, Innovation, Technology, and Telecommunications, Paula Bogantes Zamora, to discuss deepening bilateral ties. They explored various avenues for collaboration, including supporting Indian businesses in Costa Rica and engaging in capacity building projects. Margherita emphasized the shared commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship between India and Costa Rica.
Margherita also engaged with the Indian community in Costa Rica, expressing appreciation for their contributions to promoting India’s values and goodwill globally. He highlighted the importance of the Indian diaspora as a symbol of talent and positivity.
During his visit, Margherita held discussions with Costa Rica’s Foreign Minister, Manuel Tovar, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation. Both ministers acknowledged the common values shared by India and Costa Rica in advocating for multilateralism, democracy, and a rules-based international order.
The Indian minister inaugurated the ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ Wall at the University for Peace in San Jose, symbolizing India’s ancient philosophy of universal brotherhood. He also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, underscoring Gandhi’s message of peace and non-violence that resonates globally.
As part of his visit, Margherita participated in environmental initiatives by planting a sapling, aligning with India’s commitment to sustainability and ecological responsibility. Additionally, he inaugurated a new Feuji office center in Costa Rica, highlighting the increasing commercial and technological cooperation between the two nations.
Margherita attended the swearing-in ceremony of Costa Rica’s newly elected President, Laura Fernandez, conveying warm greetings on behalf of India. The bilateral relations between India and Costa Rica continue to strengthen through enhanced trade, technological exchanges, and people-to-people connections.
