Satyanarayan Pitroda, also known as ‘Sam’, the Indian Overseas Congress chief, raised doubts about the fairness of elections in India, citing issues with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), electronic tampering, software modifications, and voter lists. He expressed a lack of trust in the integrity of the electoral process, stating that manipulation could occur at various stages.
Pitroda also criticized India’s stance on the West Asia conflict, accusing the country of aligning with the aggressor rather than taking a moral high ground. He emphasized the need to utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address issues like hunger and poverty, advocating for its role in streamlining government operations.
Additionally, Pitroda highlighted the importance of inclusive policies, mentioning the support for Muslim reservation under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. He stressed the significance of providing assistance to marginalized communities, including OBCs and Muslims, by ensuring affordable access to education and healthcare.
Pitroda drew parallels between Rahul Gandhi’s approach as the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and the hypothetical stance of late Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in today’s context. He envisioned Gandhi advocating for people-centric, non-violent, and peace-driven policies, transcending party politics for the greater good.
