The Indian duo started well, winning the first game convincingly, but the Chinese pair staged a comeback in the later stages, securing the bronze medal.
Indian shuttlers have historically achieved limited success at the BWF World Tour Finals, with only two medals won so far. PV Sindhu remains the sole gold medallist from India in the competition, clinching the women’s singles title in 2018.
Ranked third globally, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty faced an early setback against the fifth-ranked Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, trailing 1-4 initially. However, they quickly recovered and took control, eventually winning the first game 21-10. The Chinese pair fought back in the second game, winning crucial points to force a decider, which they claimed 21-17.
The third game witnessed a dominant performance from Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, with the Chinese duo’s strong serves and net play overwhelming the Indian pair. Satwik-Chirag have now faced the Chinese pair twelve times, losing eight encounters, including five in 2025. Earlier in the tournament, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty excelled in the group stage and the round of 16 at the BWF World Championships.
